More Than 40 Products Pass HomePlug(R) Powerline Alliance AV Certification

Driving the worldwide acceptance of high-speed networking over power lines, the HomePlug® Powerline Alliance today announced that more than 40 products passed its HomePlug AV compliance and interoperability (C&I) product certification Plugfest testing. Founded in 2000, the HomePlug Alliance remains the only compliance, interoperability and standards organization in the powerline technology industry. As part of the Alliances goal of achieving the most complete consumer experience, the certification process is designed to maintain compatibility with existing powerline communications products.

The HomePlug AV certification program consists of two components compliance testing and interoperability testing. Two products passed the compliance testing, which verifies that silicon solutions from vendors are implemented to comply with the HomePlug AV specification. More than 40 products passed the interoperability testing, which ensures that products based on compliant silicon solutions interoperate with each other and are capable of meeting a set of performance metrics as defined by the Alliances Compliance & Interoperability Workgroup.

Bolstered by the large number of products submitted for testing and the overall quality of products, the HomePlug Alliance is thrilled with this extremely strong starting point for the HomePlug AV certification logo program, said Craig Cedros from Intel Corporation, who serves as the chair of the HomePlug Powerline Alliance Compliance & Interoperability Work Group. We are very confident that all products that passed the HomePlug AV certification will provide great ease-of-use and seamless compatibility for consumers worldwide.

Products from HomePlug member companies Actiontec, Asoka, Aztech, Cameo, Devolo, Fujitsu-Siemens, GigaFast, Intellon, Leacom, Linksys, Sharp, Solwise, Sumitomo and ZyXEL passed the AV certification requirements. To help manufacturers and consumers easily identify HomePlug AV products, products that have passed certification can be identified by customers and consumers by the HomePlug AV Certified logo.
