P2 Security Helps Companies Meet Upcoming PCI Data Security Deadline

P2 Security, a pioneer in Web Access Management (WAM) technologies, today unveiled maXecurity 2.2, the newest version of its maXecurity appliance product line. maXecurity 2.2 features enhancements that address the Payment Card Industrys (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS), which were conceived to ensure protection of consumer account data.

PCI DSS mandates the installation of application layer firewalls in front of Web-accessible applications by June 30, 2008. The maXecurity line of WAM appliances are application layer firewalls that provide companies of all sizes with an easy and effective way to secure access to Web resources.

For companies in search of a solution to the looming PCI compliance deadline, P2 Security provides an inexpensive and easy-to-implement technology that addresses the key components of PCI compliance, said Jeff Gresham, CTO, P2 Security.

The PCI requirements addressed by the maXecurity product suite include: the ability to develop and maintain secure systems and applications; the restriction of access to cardholder data to those with the appropriate security permission; and the tracking and monitoring of all access to network resources and cardholder data.

maXecurity enables companies to develop and maintain secure systems and applications. The appliances act as an application layer firewall by offering three forms of protection: the enforcement of protocol standards, protected access and DoS prevention.

It also meets the requirement to restrict access to cardholder data to those with the appropriate security permissionsmaXecurity confirms the identity of a user and determines access to a particular Web page or resource by requesting a username and password and confirming the users group affiliation.

Finally, the maXecurity products also address PCIs requirement to monitor access to network resources and cardholder data. They track all attempts to access Web pages, which contain cardholder data, create audit reports of failed data access attempts and changes to security policies. They also create reports that show all the resources that a particular user can access.

Currently, three maXecurity appliance models are available that support organizations of various size. maXecurity Basic supports 500 users, maXecurity Pro supports 5,000 users, and maXecurity Enterprise supports 50,000 users. Appliance models can be mixed and matched to scale linearly to any usage scenario from the smallest to the largest organization.
